About EMCCA
East Midlands Combined County Authority
(EMCCA) brings partners together to help make the East Midlands more
prosperous, sustainable and fairer. We are an evolving organisation, moving our
focus towards delivery against our Corporate Plan and building the people,
systems and capability needed to turn our ambitions into results. This makes it
an exciting time to join us. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a
developing organisation, shape how we work and help deliver meaningful outcomes
for our region.
About the role
As Senior HR Advisor, you will work with
the HR Operations & Services Partner to build EMCCA’s ER function. Providing
confident, practical and solutions-focused advice to managers and senior
leaders. You will take ownership of complex employee relations work, helping
people make sound decisions that balance employee experience, employment
requirements and organisational risk.
You will also support organisational
development and workforce activity as EMCCA evolves. This will include advising
on restructures, consultation and changes to roles or services where these
arise, alongside contributing to wider priorities such as management
capability, workforce planning, recruitment, retention and HR policy. You will also contribute to organisational
change and workforce activity, including TUPE and organisational integration
where relevant.
You will line manage and support the HR
Advisor, helping to build capability and maintain a consistent, high-quality
service.
What you'll be doing
·
Independently manage complex
and sensitive employee relations cases, providing clear advice, options and
recommendations.
·
Advise, coach and
constructively challenge managers and senior leaders across disciplinary,
grievance, performance, capability, absence and other people matters.
·
Interpret employment law, case
law and HR policy and translate these into practical, proportionate advice.
·
Identify employment risks early
and help managers understand appropriate mitigations and routes forward.
·
Support organisational
development and workforce activity, including consultation, restructures,
workforce planning and changes to roles or services.
·
Contribute to HR policy
development, recruitment and retention, employee experience, equality,
diversity and inclusion and management capability.
·
Work effectively with trade
unions, employee representatives, partner organisations and professional
colleagues.
·
Maintain clear records,
governance and decision trails for complex people activity.
What you'll bring
·
Significant professional HR
experience in a complex organisation, including advising and constructively
challenging managers and senior leaders.
·
Significant experience of
independently managing complex employee relations matters and applying sound
professional judgement.
·
Strong and current knowledge of
employee relations, organisational change and employment law, with the ability
to apply it practically.
·
Experience of supporting
organisational change, consultation and workforce activity. Practical TUPE or
comparable transfer experience would be useful.
·
Strong communication,
influencing and relationship-management skills, with discretion, integrity and
a pragmatic approach.
·
CIPD Level 7, working towards
it, or equivalent senior-level HR experience demonstrating the capability
required for the role.
