Title: Project Archaeologists (Fieldwork)*

Location: NOTTINGHAM**

Salary: £28,038 per annum

Hours of Work: 37 per week

Contract: Permanent 

 **travel to sites across the UK will be required


York Archaeology delivers commercial archaeological services from offices at York, Sheffield and Nottingham.  The organisation provides world famous heritage attractions with excavation, survey, consultancy, expert conservation services, research and an unmatched commitment to dissemination, engagement and public benefit.

We require Project Archaeologists operating from our Nottingham office, to deliver a wide range of archaeological projects, including sites of prehistoric, Roman and medieval date, both rural and urban.  Permanent contracts are offered, subject to successful completion of a probation period, and in line with project needs. Applicants will be expected to work locally within the region and farther afield; accommodation, transport and subsistence funds will be provided.    

Essential criteria:

  • A degree in archaeology or related discipline and an appropriate level of demonstrable experience
  • Minimum 6 months experience within commercial fieldwork, successful completion of an existing training scheme, or demonstrable equivalent experience

Desirable criteria:

  •  A full, UK driving licence would be advantageous, but not essential
  • A willingness to drive site vehicles, including welfare vans, would be extremely desirable
  •  CIfA membership would be advantageous, but not essential
  • A First Aid at Work certificate would be advantageous, but not essential
