About EMCCA
East Midlands Combined County Authority
(EMCCA) brings partners together to help make the East Midlands more
prosperous, sustainable and fairer. We are an evolving organisation, moving our
focus towards delivery against our Corporate Plan and building the people,
systems and capability needed to turn our ambitions into results. This makes it
an exciting time to join us. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a
developing organisation, shape how we work and help deliver meaningful outcomes
for our region.
About the role
As HR Advisor, you will provide practical,
responsive and high-quality advice to managers and employees across EMCCA. You
will manage your own employee relations caseload, helping managers apply
policies fairly and consistently and take ownership of their day-to-day people
responsibilities.
You will work closely with the Senior HR
Advisor and the wider HR and Organisational Development team. You will know
when to act independently and when to escalate a sensitive, complex or
higher-risk matter. Alongside casework, you will support organisational and
workforce activity and contribute to improvements in our policies, guidance and
ways of working.
This role offers breadth, visibility and
the opportunity to develop your professional experience within an organisation
that is continuing to grow and mature.
What you'll be doing
·
Manage an allocated employee
relations caseload, ensuring matters progress in a timely, consistent and
proportionate way.
·
Advise managers on disciplinary
and grievance matters, sickness absence, performance and capability, probation,
flexible working and other people issues.
·
Coach managers to build their
confidence and take appropriate ownership of people management
responsibilities.
·
Identify sensitive, complex or
high-risk issues and escalate them appropriately.
·
Support workforce and
organisational activity, including consultation, restructures, service changes,
redeployment and changes to roles or working arrangements.
·
Contribute to the review and
improvement of HR policies, processes, guidance and manager resources.
·
Support wider priorities
including recruitment and retention, employee engagement, equality, diversity
and inclusion and workforce reporting.
·
Maintain confidentiality,
accurate records and high professional standards.
What you'll bring
·
Practical experience of
providing HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.
·
Experience of managing or
supporting employee relations casework and applying HR policies in practice.
·
Clear communication, good
judgement and the confidence to handle sensitive information with tact and
discretion.
·
Good organisation and
case-management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
·
Experience of supporting
organisational change or workforce activity. Experience in local government, a
combined authority, with trade unions or with TUPE would be useful but is not
essential.
·
CIPD Level 5, working towards
it, or relevant practical HR experience demonstrating the knowledge and
capability required for the role.
